The BRZ/FRS is a fun little car but let’s face the facts, it’s slow. Subaru should have made a turbo version but they didn’t. Instead, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! developed a ridiculously fast kit called the “Plus 300” which makes 500hp/550tq on E85 (Slightly less on pump gas). But it’s bit pricey at $7,995 plus options, which is why Crawford is releasing a more affordable “Plus 100” turbo kit later this week for $4,400. They are in the final stages of tuning but !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Crawford has been making massive turbo power on Subaru’s for years including Ken Block’s Gymkhana 1 & 2 cars but you might be more familiar with their faster “Plus 300” kit from Matt Farah’s episode of Tuned on the Drive Channel:

So if you’re looking for turbo kit designed around the stock engine internals, this is the BRZ/FRS turbo kit you have been looking for! Even better is that you can upgrade later to the “Plus 300” if you decide you need more power. More information will be out later this week on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

And yes, I am good friends with the guys at Crawford Performance and used to drive their “Plus 300” car in Time Attack, but their turbo kits are pretty awesome and this kit is that a lot of us have been waiting for, so I thought I’d share. And it might be time for me to buy a Suabru...

8k to make 2 and a half times the stock HP is expensive? Wish I could only spend 8k to get 1125 HP out of my car!

$8k for an FI kit sounds pretty good to me.. But I've spent too much time staring at the $10k+ kits for the E9x M3 lol.

Hurray! The dreaded torque pit in the mid range is gone!

Several of my students have these. I’ll pass this on. A bunch of them were absolutely interested when I showed them how you got into WRC events.

Very true! I do think if you add that much power to the little BRZ chassis you will need the options for the Plus 300 kit like the clutch and half shafts and other stuff, but you are right that $8k for that much power is pretty awesome. But I think its a bit expensive for the normal buyer of a BRZ/FRS. hence the new Plus 100 kit for $4,400. Then when you get used to the power or can handle more you can upgrade to the Plus 300 kit.

Ever seen Crawford’s manifold spacer blocks? I think they get rid of most of that torque pit on the NA motors if I remember correctly.

Not until now, but that I will keep that information in mind. Thanks.

that’s an interesting option for those that want to go turbo on this car, though I think the best way would be to go supercharged to try and keep the N/A feel of the car, looking forwards to the Harrop kit that’s in development that could rival this from what I have read

Most of the supercharger kits, or at least the early ones made very little power. Even when the sellers claims where high, I saw a few run on dynos and I think they made like 40 or 50 more hp... Im sure they're better know, but TURBO....

I spoke with a Cosworth Rep at Japfest in May and he hinted at the next stage of their supercharger kit will hit 400bhp, the HKS v2 without the restrictor is meant to be capable of around 400bhp, the Harrop one though is using a bigger screw setup compared to the Cosworth so should be able to break the 400 barrier

Awesome, but I’m using that $4k to get a cage put in my e36 rally project. My FR-S is still on stock tires (and snows for rallycross)
